Day 2

An early but still an hour late morning

Accoring to ourschedule we should have left the hotel by 8 but that became 9. Partly because of our detour yesterday with the view, which we spent at least 30 minutes at and ended up sleeping at 12:00am (my family) while I slept at 1am. Also, the breakfast at Holiday Inn, Orchard Road is really good. From Indian food to croissants to potato wedges to ice creams and yoghurts. All of it. This was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had at a hotel. I’d also like to thank the receptionist there, Prisa, who was very helpful throughout our stay at Holiday Inn.

Heading to Suntec City Mall

We left for the Concord bus station on Orchard Road. The walk was pleasant, but it was so sunny. Thankfully, I had applied sunscreen. Something Ive noticed is that here the climate is the extreme of what tropical is. HUMID, HUMID, HUMID I was sweating like crazy. Anyway, we took the same bus, Bus 36, to get to the Suntec Mall. It’s a huge mall with lots of shops and four floors. It took us a while to get to the hop-on, hop-off bus tour location. It had changed recently, which is probably why Google Maps took us to the wrong place.

Finally, we got our tickets and got on the bus!

The Red Line

There are two lines on the hop-on, hop-off bus tour: the Red line and the Yellow Line. The Red line goes through Little India, Chinatown, Marina Bay and the east side of the main area of Singapore. We saw lots of sights and even though it was so hot and we were drenched in sweat, our bodies were still able to function. We had a great time and took lots of photos and videos. The breeze kept us cool. We had seats under the shade on the top bunk of the bus, which was open to the air, while the bottom bunk had air conditioning. Ayush was so tired he basically fell asleep.

Suntec City Mall

We got off the red line and took a break at Suntec City Mall. We went to the 7-11 to get a drink and chips. We got vanilla Coke, I think it’s an upgrade, though it’s a small one. We also explored the mall and walked for a while.

We then went back to the Hop on Hop off tour area to get onto the yellow bus. Unfortunately, we just missed it, so we had to wait for the next bus, which was 20 minutes. We went back inside and explored more. Krispy Kreme lured us, but we resisted.

The Yellow Line (well half of it)

These tours had audio commentry they give you headphone and you pliug it in next to your seats and they have pre recorded audio commentery.

We boarded the yellow line. Mom and Ayush went to the AC bunk while me and Dad got both Window seats without shae on the top bunk. That was one of the best decisions we have made. The open Sky the breeze all of it made it worth it and even the clear audio commentary. We got insane pictures.

We deicded to get off at the Botnical Gardens. Another great decision. The Botanical Gaardens were BEAUTIFUl. ALL OF IT. The Orchid Garden was WORTH IT. 15$ per Adult. My brother went from 13->12 and got in for free. We got SO SO SO many photos.

There were photo stops and waterfalls and indoor simulations for gardens. It was amazing refreshing and at the end we SAW SO MUCH AND EXPLORED SO MUCH Ayush basically just sat down on the floor.

We went back to get some soviners like flavoured tea and umbrellas. We went back and boarded the yellow bus to finish the rest of the tour. We couldnt really get a place to sit but once we did we saw

Little India and Copper Chimney

We got back on the Red Line and got off at Mustafa Centre in Little India. We had dinner at 5pm. Let me tell you our strategy. Our strategy is to have a big, heavy breakfast because it’s complimentary. Then until 4-7pm, we’ll eat local snacks and other snacks, basically something you can carry in a bag. Then we’ll eat those during transport and buffer time. And then we’ll eat dinner and then snacks again if we need to.

So at 4:45 we got food at Copper Chimney. The food was pretty good. We started with Chilly Chicken (6/10) and Kungpao Chicken (9/10), then had Dhaba Chicken (6/10) and naan. We finished with Biryani (4/10). My mum said she liked it (8/10), but Im a biryani elitest this was a 4/10 no more no less.

Mustafa Centre

I thought that Dmart in India was the place to go for everything. I think I’m right in saying that you can get pretty much everything there, but not so much imported stuff or the variety. It’s a cheaper option.

But THAT IS NOT EVEN CLOSE IN COMPARISON TO WHAT YOU GET IN MUSTAFA CENTRE EVERYTHING EVERYTHING LITERALLY EVERYTHING Imported Chocoaltes SD Crds ayush got Glsses I got imported food nd clothes and a restaurant what was that?

I was so surprised by the sheer amount of things they had. It was a mall, but it wasn’t like separate shops. It had that market vibe. It was a real eye-opener. I loved the experience and there was something new to discover at every turn. It felt like the one-stop shop in Singapore for everything. As usual, we stocked up on our snacks from there.

Back home

We took a Grab Cab back to the hotel and decided to take a dip in the hotel pool. We didn’t get a view, even though it’s on the 8th floor (top floor). It was a bit strange that they didn’t keep it transparent. The pool was big, really big, and it was a deep pool.

Tea and the IPL

Ayush, Dad and I watched the IPL match between RCB vs CSK and made Oolong Tea and English tea with the supplies we had in the hotel.

Tomorrow we’re heading to the zoo!
