Welcome to my writing of my experience at Singapore.
Saying Goodbye to home for the next 9 days
We set off at 1 am, which is pretty unusual for a vacation. Our flight was at 9 am, but we decided to leave early for the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport in Mumbai.
It’s a 3-hour journey from our home. We were really happy to see that we had a spacious car just for the four of us. It was a Kia Carens, I think.
We got there at around 4:15. We slept through most of the car ride though. Our sleepy heads had to endure another 5 hours of staying awake before we got on the plane.
I won’t lie, when we reached the airport, I was surprised. The architecture all felt like it was from another country in another era.
We breezed through check-in, took some photos and then immediately lost a rounder in security. We’ll miss you! Then we reached the duty-free section.
We’d brought snacks and basically lunch on our own, but we thought we’d get breakfast in the airport. In the Delhi Airport we’d found reasonably priced food, but this time everything had a +200rs tag to it. But we found some vending machines selling chips at MRP and decided to spend most of our money there.
Our gate number was A49 or something.
The Flight
When we got on the plane, I was a little disappointed. It was an international flight, so I expected an entertainment system and refreshments. But the flight had nothing.
Those five hours were pretty frustrating. There was not enough legroom, the power was low because there were no ports, and there were other issues too.
SINGAPORE!
We made it out at around 4:55pm in Singapore time. We went through the immigration process and got our SIM cards.
We decided to take the bus to our hotel. The infrastructure and system in Singapore in general feels automated and really organised. It’s a system to learn for sure. We cooled down at the hotel and left for dinner just when the staff sent our room a small cake for mum and dad’s anniversary.
Màkàn@Jen
We walked from the hotel to the restaurant. The climate was very humid, but it was a pleasant walk. Other than getting used to using a button to push for the elevator, it was a pretty funny journey. We decided on Makàn@Jen, which is a restaurant in the hotel called Jen. It took us around 10 minutes to just find it.
They had a buffet system, and we used eatigo to get a 50% discount. They had a lot of variety, from potato wedges to satay chicken to sushi to a variety of jellies and cakes and ice creams to a cheese wheel? It also had a lot of seafood. I’m not a fan, but I’m sure my mum enjoyed it.
Other than that, it was a very expensive meal regardless of the 50%.
That view?!
The lady at the counter told us about the view from the 19th floor, and it was totally worth it. We didn’t even have to go to the Marina Bay Sands Observatory; we already had a great view from the pool with a bar. This is a truly hidden gem.
We walked back and cut the cake, then went to sleep.
Tomorrow we’re doing the hop-on hop-off tour and the botanical gardens It should be fun!
